ROYAL ASCOT

Photographer Marian Alonso Perez

Royal Ascot Racecourse, one of the leading racecourses in the United Kingdom closely associated with the British Royal Family, is famous for it’s thoroughbred horse races. In customary fashion, the majority of the attendees, especially the ladies, use this day to don their finest garments and largest hats, and enjoy the day out with the odd flutter on the races and some drinks.

Marian Alonso, originally from Barcelona, is a photographer and lens-based visual artist who lives and works in London. Her photography can be described as bold and iconic, with a natural aesthetic style. A lot of her work is figurative in subject and aims to capture meaning and emotion conveyed through slights of body language and expression, all within a thoughtful composition. Specialising in portraiture and reportage, her work has been published in magazines such as Dazed and Confused and Deluxx, and she has been featured in Katie Kelly’s Pillow Book published by the Erotic Print Society.

Her most recent video work Action 9: Axis (http://smallactsofintervention.com/) has been shortlisted for the Sproxton Photography Award in association with the London College of Communication, where she completed her master’s degree in fine art photography.
